Object of my desire. Start Bay Inn.

The Object of my Desire.

One of my favourite places in Devon.
Down on the coast in the South Hams stands a c14 Inn.
Once known as 'The Fisherman's Arms'.
It now goes by the name of 'Start Bay Inn'.
It stands in a tiny village hard on the sea and backed by a freshwater lagoon 'Slapton Lee'.
We often visit for a fish'n'chip supper.
We even held our wedding 'do' there.

Smallacombe rocks. Dartmoor. Devon.

Smallacombe rocks.

A chilly days walk with my wife took us to the old granite quarry at Haytor, Dartmoor.
This particular spot was the scene of one of my teams finds back in the last century. Sitting here, making a hot chocolate on my old stove, I couldn't help thinking of my Mountain Rescue colleagues back in the day.

Future Horizons. Lunan bay. Scotland.

Future Horizons.
Lunan Bay.

It was early spring when Sarah and I found ourselves by the old lime kilns at Lunan Bay.
There were a number of old wooded fishing boats abandoned on a promontory hard by the waters edge. We wondered about their last days of use and what, if anything the fishermen took as a new vessel. The sun shone and we dozed, taking photos of old souls.
